Embark on a musical journey where the hills truly come alive. This exclusive Sound Of Music holiday provides a high standard of vocal and performance tuition from renowned UK West End and Theatre professionals. But this holiday is not just about the singing!
You will also experience the enchanting beauty of Salzburg as you partake in city, mountain & lake tours led by Salzburg’s only SOM singing guide. You will be able to immerse yourself completely in the history and charm of the iconic film locations.
But that’s not all! This unbeatable experience includes an afternoon in a professional studio, where the group will record tracks from The Sound of Music. We will then film you performing songs in the actual locations where the movie was shot, providing you with a keepsake video for you to share with family and friends.
The grand finale to this once-in-a-lifetime adventure will be a heartwarming So Long, Farewell performance with a traditional Austrian band in the town square. This holiday is a celebration of one of the greatest and timeless musicals ever made!
ACCOMMODATION
We have the exclusive use of Pension Sommerauer, three stunning villas set in the green pastures around the town of Hallein, a short (and very efficient) 15 min train ride into the centre of Salzburg. This exclusive setting provides ample, comfortable accommodation plus space for the vocal classes and rehearsals.
Pension Sommerauer’s stunning surroundings are sure to provide you with bundles of Julie Andrews style inspiration as you sing-out-loud at the foot of the breathtaking Austrian Alps.

This holiday is tailored for amateur singers and performers such as members of local choirs or music theatre groups who wish to enhance their singing and performance ability by working with West End and Touring professionals. It is open to all levels, we simply ask that you can pitch notes and have experience in singing in a group. This holiday will not require solo singing.

Travel
Flights are available from most UK and European cities to Salzburg or Munich – Munich is a 2-hour drive from Salzburg.
There is an amazing transport system in Austria which allows for easy and affordable transfer from the airport to the villa. We will assist you with your planning for these.
We will stay in contact with you to ensure that your journey is as smooth as possible.
How it Works
Days are split between group singing and rehearsals, and smaller group sessions in classes starting from 10am through to early evening. There will be plenty of breaks and free time sessions.
For the smaller groups sessions you will be allocated to a coach that is best suited to your vocal abilities, but everyone will get a chance to work with all coaches throughout the week.
Rehearsals are the most exciting part of the day when everyone comes together to learn the repertoire for the live show and recording sessions.
The Accommodation
Located in Hallein, 3* Bed & Breakfast Pension Sommerauer provides accommodation with a seasonal outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a garden and a terrace. Christine, the owner, is a superb host and will look after all of our needs, including a fantastic breakfast where Christine bakes her own cakes and cookies!
At the pension, every room is fitted with a wardrobe, flat-screen TV, private bathroom, bed linen and towels. At Pension Sommerauer rooms are also equipped with a seating area.
Wi-Fi is included free.
We have three types of rooms on offer:
- Room with one double bed for single occupancy
- Room with two beds for two people sharing
- Studio for three people sharing
These are two rooms with a large balcony connected by a sliding door
In the first room there is a double bed plus a single sofa, in the second room there is a double sofabed
3a. Studio for four people – the biggest suite with two rooms containing two double beds, one double sofabed and one single sofabed plus a huge bathroom and separate second toilet
Partners!
We offer non-singing partner options which are perfect if your husband, wife or partner wants to join your Salzburg Trip but doesn’t want to partake in the singing and performance elements of the trip. They will join us on bus trips and most meals. The location of the pension is a few minutes’ walk from the train station that provides easy access to many towns, lakes and attractions for those who want to plan a separate itinerary.
