STANDING in front of a West End musical director, a professional vocal coach and a class full of singing enthusiasts, I begin to question all the life choices I’ve made that have got me here.
I don’t often get nervous, but I’m now expected to start singing – aloud, and in a room full of people!…..Read More

With tuition from West End pros, this week-long singing break in southern Spain hits all the right notes
‘Do you prefer alto or soprano?” asks Steve Moss, poised at his electric piano. My mind goes blank. I’m usually more of a pinot grigio girl, but that’s not the answer the former musical director of Les Misérables is looking for. Although I struggle to carry a tune in a bucket, I’m an enthusiastic karaoke singer…….Read More

Back from Salzburg and buzzing with joy! What a brilliant experience this was! It ticks sooo many boxes – SUPERB coaches (professional, encouraging, patient, endlessly enthusiastic, empathetic, hilarious), delicious food both in and out of the pension (healthy, varied, nurturing, flavoursome), stunning views everywhere (singing the Sound of Music WHERE it was filmed???!!! Incredible!!)…. the days were packed, singing, rehearsing, recording, performing, filming, exploring, more singing, eating & drinking. The belly laughs!

A wonderful week spent in a beautiful villa with great musical theatre community where bursting into song and rehearsing lines is absolutely normal. Helpful and supportive tutors and other retreat members. Funny and interesting stories had by all. A truely cathartic experience with lots of fun and great food to boot! Organisers were helpful and encouraging as were all involved. Great new friendships made.
Debbie- Sing Sondheim! March 2025
What an incredible experience. West End Directors, Producers and Vocal Coaches. An opportunity to sing for and be coached by Olivier winning Janie Dee – how is that even possible?
Alongside that, beautiful accommodation, so much wonderful home cooked food and an amazing team making sure we are all looked after.
Great company and opportunity to meet and spend time with like minded individuals.
I cannot recommend more highly and I will be back.
Tracy – Sing Sondheim! March 2025
I had such a great time with a talented bunch of individuals not to mention the sheer brilliance of the tutors who were so encouraging, invested as well as pushing us to bring greater skills out of us that we didn’t know we had! Thank you Zane and Cat for an extremely warm and professional week! I’ll be back for more!
Linda – Sing Sondheim! March 2025
The Les Misérables week was absolutely incredible and exceeded all my expectations. A huge thank you to Cat and Zane for bringing this amazing experience to life and organising it with such care and attention to detail. From the moment we arrived, they made everyone feel welcome and at home. The teaching team – Nick, Zev and Steve – were phenomenal, bringing expertise, enthusiasm and fun to every session. The villa and the food were outstanding – it couldn’t have been better.
I can’t wait for the next SingEatRetreat week! I highly recommend it to anyone who loves musicals and wants to combine improving their singing and performance skills with an unforgettable holiday in Spain.

The week at Sing Eat Retreat far exceeded my expectations. The location was stunning, the villa was wonderful and the food was to die for! The singing was fantastic and I learned so much! I loved the flash mob and the concert. The singing coaches were so knowledgeable and encouraging, I couldn’t help but improve. The support staff were wonderful too and made the stay all the more enjoyable. I can’t recommend this enough!

Sing Eat Retreat is the best holiday experience I have ever had. The location alone was paradise. The food alone would have made the holiday outstanding. Anyone of the three coaches would have been more than enough for an amazing musical transformation. All of the Sing Eat Retreat staff surpassed any kind of hospitality experience I have ever encountered. This is the greatest retreat ever!

The choir wanted to give the group:
Fresh musical energy
Deeper expressive singing
Time to reconnect as an ensemble
What they didn’t want was a conventional choir course.
They were looking for something serious enough to develop musically — but uplifting and enjoyable at the same time.
Thirty-six singers travelled to southern Spain for a five-day Sing Eat Retreat.
Each day balanced focused musical work with time to relax, explore the landscape and enjoy being together outside the rehearsal room.
The musical programme was led by West End musical theatre professionals, working in close collaboration with the choir’s own leadership to support the choir’s artistic goals.
Together they explored:
Vocal technique
Expressive storytelling in music
Ensemble balance and blend
Performance confidence
There were also smaller sectional sessions and coaching, allowing singers to explore their voices in more depth.
Despite several hours of singing each day, the experience never felt heavy.
“We worked hard — really hard — but it never felt tiring.
It was energising.”
The real change came midweek.
As the singers relaxed into the environment and coaching style, something shifted in the ensemble sound.
Voices became freer.
Phrases became more expressive.
The choir began singing with greater emotional connection.
“Suddenly we weren’t just singing the notes anymore —we were telling the story.”
The retreat concluded with a relaxed public concert for locals.
There was confidence, connection and joy.
“It felt like we were singing together again.”
By the end of the week the Duffers & Gruffers Choir reported stronger vocal confidence, improved ensemble blend and a renewed musical energy. But the biggest change was emotional.
“It re-ignited the joy of singing.”
Since returning to the UK, the impact has continued. The choir has embraced more expressive repertoire, rehearsals feel more relaxed and energised, and members describe the group as “better and happier” — a powerful shift for a choir that had been together for more than two decades.
Several elements made the difference: collaborative musical leadership from the SER coaches, time together beyond the rehearsal room that strengthened the choir’s sense of community, and a carefully curated programme working towards a final performance that gave the week focus and momentum.
Many choirs reach a point where they want to refresh their sound, reconnect as an ensemble, and give members a meaningful shared experience.
Sing Eat Retreat designs private, fully tailored retreats for UK choirs, supporting and enhancing the work choir directors already do. We collaborate closely with each ensemble to create a programme that fits its repertoire, goals and singers — whether classical or contemporary.
If you would like to explore what a retreat might look like for your choir, we would be delighted to talk.
