This Opera Singing Holiday is designed for singers who feel drawn to the richness, drama and beauty of the operatic repertoire — whether you are exploring your Opera voice for the first time or returning to it with experience. We promise you that this will not be an intimidating conservatoire environment, nor is it purely introductory. It is a carefully curated week of musical development for all abilities where curiosity is welcomed and experience is respected. And of course with all SER holidays it will be filled with fun, great food, stunning scenery and an end of week public recital.
At the heart of the programme is an exceptional creative team:
Amanda Roocroft – Vocal Coach
Internationally acclaimed opera soprano and Laurence Olivier Award winner for Outstanding Achievement in Opera. Amanda leads the vocal work and masterclasses, offering rare insight drawn from a distinguished international career. Her teaching combines technical clarity with deep musical understanding, supporting singers at every stage of their journey.
Stephen Anthony Brown – Musical Director
With credits including English National Opera, Glyndebourne and the D’Oyly Carte Opera Company, Stephen brings authority, warmth and stylistic precision to the musical preparation. His experience ensures ensemble work and individual coaching are both rigorous and rewarding.
Rachel Wise – Stage Director
An internationally recognised stage and movement director, and recipient of The Grange Festival’s ‘Outstanding Young Creative Talent’ award (2023). Rachel guides performance craft, physical storytelling and stage presence, helping singers inhabit the repertoire with confidence and authenticity.
For Those Exploring — And Those Established
If you are new to opera, you will be guided with patience and encouragement, developing technique, language awareness and performance confidence in a supportive environment.
If you already sing opera, you will find depth — detailed musical exploration, stylistic refinement, interpretative challenge and the opportunity to work at a high artistic level with leading professionals.
Daily coaching sessions, ensemble rehearsals and masterclasses are thoughtfully structured to accommodate varying experience levels while maintaining a strong artistic standard throughout.
Opera and Cultural Indulgence
Alongside the musical programme, the week includes a refined culinary journey celebrating the great operatic nations — Italy, France, Austria and Russia — creating a setting that honours both the repertoire and its cultural roots.
This is not simply a holiday.
It is an opportunity to immerse yourself in the artistry of opera, guided by distinguished professionals, in an atmosphere of generosity, focus and shared passion.
A week to develop.
